This morning was the start of Belfast Waterworks parkrun. It’s a weekly free event to encourage people of every fitness level to run the 5Km (3.1mi) route. The route is just over two laps of the Waterworks at the foot of the Antrim Road. You register once online and then bring a bar-code along to the event. I’m just waiting for their results to be uploaded now. Parkrun has been running in places all over the UK but it has now came to Belfast and the attendance was great, at my estimate there were about 80 people there ready to run.
My timing for the event was 24:45mins with an average pace of 7:54min/mi so I’m happy enough but having heard about Paul Chambers doing 3mi in 17mins I now have a long term target to aim for LOL, short term my next target is 22mins for the 5Km.
Special thanks to Felim for use of his lav before the race, sorry for waking you again and thanks for lunch.

Brilliant. Great to see another pparkrun starting up. A nice to see someone else blogging about parkrun. Good luck with the 22 minute target.
Thanks Ian. They’re a great idea but I’m rarely free on Saturdays. Helped out last week and plan to run next week.
